Gravel Ride to Brighton
Friday 12th September
130km / 1480m elevation
Terrain: Gravel/Off-Road
Cyclefit Store Street to Brighton
14-16 kmph
Another 'monster' ride in our Landrace series of guided gravel rides, a 130km ride from London to Brighton via Tillgate Forest and the South Downs. Kick things off at Cyclefit's Store Street shop, then we’ll roll south through London, dodging traffic until we finally hit some dirt at Mitcham Common. On the way, we’ll ride past the country’s oldest Grotto (yes, that’s a thing) and a Bronze Age hill fort—because why not? Coffee stop in Coulsdon to refuel, then it's straight into the fun of Happy Valley.
Climb up the South Downs, take in the views, then drop into the Weald. There’s a fun little sandy climb (trust me, you’ll love it) before we cruise through woodlands and across farmland to meet the Worth Way. We’ll hit some singletrack through Tillingate Forest before stopping for lunch in Pease Pottage - sounds so medieval. "A gentle post-lunch warm-up along bridleways before we join the Downs Link and cruise a solid 15 km to Steyning. Then it’s the long, old grind up to the final summit at Fulking Hill, (spelling is correct) but don’t worry—there’s a glorious descent waiting on the other side.
We’ll roll into Brighton for fish 'n' chips and a well-earned beer by the sea. We'll catch a train back to London.
The cost for the day is £50.00 which includes:
- GPX route
- Guide/pace rider
- Planned feed stops and bail points/times
